Audition for the Chorale

The Glen Ellyn-Wheaton Chorale is a 60+ member auditioned group. Membership is open to all adults (18+ years of age) regardless of area of residence. Specifically and explicitly, there shall be no barrier to membership based on age, sex, race, religion, or creed. Members come from a variety of backgrounds and musical experience. The Chorale performs two major concerts annually, as well as other performances at select venues. We sing a wide variety of music ranging from classical to contemporary, often incorporating string ensembles and other instrumental soloists.

Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings from 7:30–9:30 p.m. The Chorale's season runs from September to May with seasonal concerts in November/December and April/May. There is a yearly registration fee and there will be a cost for concert attire.

Auditions for the Chorale are generally held in August and December for openings in specific voice parts. Auditions take place with the Music Director and include vocal exercises, sight reading, and independent part singing. A prepared piece is welcome but not required.

Auditions for the smaller Ensemble group are usually held the second week into the session, and the Ensemble Director conducts an interview/vocal evaluation and determines placement.
