The Glen Ellyn-Wheaton Chorale is a 60+ member auditioned group. Membership is open to all adults (18+ years of age) regardless of area of residence. Specifically and explicitly, there shall be no barrier to membership based on age, sex, race, religion, or creed. Members come from a variety of backgrounds and musical experience. The Chorale performs two major concerts annually at the beautiful College Church in Wheaton, Illinois, as well as other performances at select venues. (GEWC is not affiliated with College Church.) We sing a wide variety of music ranging from classical to contemporary, often incorporating string ensembles and other instrumental soloists.
Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings from 7:30-9:30 p.m., at College Church. The Chorale's season runs from September to May with seasonal concerts in December and May. There is a yearly registration fee and there will be a cost for concert attire.
Auditions for the Chorale are held in August and December for openings in specific voice parts. Auditions are held with the Music Director, who conducts a short interview/vocal evaluation and then determines placement. Auditions for the smaller Ensemble group are usually held the second week into the session, and the Ensemble director conducts an interview/vocal evaluation and determines placement.
